Two and a half years on and at mum's flat getting it ready for passing on and finding a place for some her last remaining possessions. Her books across a wide variety of subjects, her tea spoons from all over the world, her bookcase from Liberties, her Fristner and Rossman sewing machine which I believe she got in 1939 as a 21st birthday present, her prized crockery and her sideboard in oak, many of the embroideries and laces she made are still here and I will keep them. Some of the very old pictures I already have including two of the first colour photographs of the Isle of Wight and perhaps anywhere. The more I think about mum's values and life the more brilliantly she shines. I am sure some of her lives on in Paul and Pascal. I met old school friends this week and they remember mum with great affection. I have tried to make the flat look nice to suit a new occupier who I hope will love it here as much as mum did. The sea still crashes to the shore and shingles.
